When I was sick and suffering from pustular acne my dream was to be able to create a safe and effective skincare range to improve the health of my skin without the need of topical steroids or any other medication that can have long term side effects.
This included a complete holistic overhaul of my diet and of my lifestyle choices.

Why I created this product?
I suffer from facial flushing, especially during and after exercise. I’m quite active, I walk daily, do Pilates, run and weight train at the gym throughout the week so I needed an easy cooling solution that was on the go, to help calm and soothe my skin.
It was for this reason and listening to the AMPERNA® community who too wanted a product they could carry in their gym or work bag to spray on their skin throughout the day that I started playing around with the concept of a spray.
A “Save Our Skin” (SOS) on the go was the inspiration behind this product.
It’s not your average facial spray – we’re not about basic watered-down products here…
Every product I create for AMPERNA® has a reason and a purpose to be in the range and I wanted to create a spray that had the same soothing benefits of our best-selling Probiotic+ DS Soothing serum.

Beta Glucan
Beta-glucan is an ingredient naturally occurring in yeast, fungi, seaweed, bacteria and in grains like oats. When applied topically it acts as a humectant on the skin which means it locks in hydration and prevents moisture loss. Beta glucan is known to be an even more effective skin plumper and hydration booster than hyaluronic acid.
It may also prevent cell damage associated with sun-exposed or aged skin.
Beta Glucan helps treat sensitive skin concerns like dermatitis and eczema as well as soothe wounds and burns. The molecule links together on the surface of the skin to form a thin film. This boosts the natural skin barrier, which protects the sensitive skin beneath from daily environmental stressors. Beta-glucans even go so far as to fend off encroaching bacteria that could disrupt the skin's barrier, helping ward off viruses and pathogens that can pass through. For this reason, they're especially suited to people with compromised skin barriers. If redness and irritation are your skin's main issues, then beta-glucan is an ingredient that will be your new best friend.
Colloidal Oatmeal
Oatmeal is a classic ingredient that is commonly used as a soothing agent to relieve dry itchy skin and soothe irritation.
Colloidal oatmeal is ground oatmeal, which is then placed in a liquid medium for better application and absorption into the skin.
Clinical studies have shown colloidal oatmeal has anti-inflammatory properties and helps strengthen the skins natural barrier. The cellulose fibre in colloidal oatmeal helps calm redness and is ideal for people suffering from eczema to sunburn.
It contains high concentrations of starches which creates a film on top of the skin’s surface, preventing trans epidermal water loss.
Cholesterol
Cholesterol is a natural component of skin’s barrier, accounting for 15% of its fatty acid content. When applied topically to the skin, it plays a replenishing role to support the moisture balance and lipid composition for healthier looking and feeling skin.
This strengthens and reinforces the skin’s outermost layers to help resist damage from external stressors, like bacteria and pollutants.
In skincare it also functions as a stabiliser, emollient and surfactant.
Stearic Acid
Stearic acid is an emollient, meaning it works by softening and smoothing the skin as well as bolstering the skins natural barrier.
Stearic acid is a wise choice for people suffering with sensitive or irritated skin associated with psoriasis (as an example) as it helps reduce the flaking and itchiness associated with this skin condition.
It is non-irritating for all skin types as it doesn’t strip the skins natural oils.
Lactococcus Ferment Lysate
And of course the star of the AMPERNA® show is our unique non-living probiotic ingredient Lactococcus Ferment Lysate. This acts as a protective layer on the skin, soothes and calms redness and irritation and helps fend of bad bacteria and free radical damage.

Suitable for all skin types
This is a great refreshing product to spray onto your skin after cleansing and before applying your serum and moisturiser.
It works beautifully under our Pro+ Vitamin C Hyaluronic serum for an extra splash of hydration.
You can also spray it onto your body after showering with the AMPERNA® Hydrating Gentle Wash and before applying the AMPERNA® Hydrating Gentle Lotion
You can also spray on top of your makeup throughout the day.
Alison (AMPERNA®'s office assistant) also used this on her chest and shoulders when she got a bit too much sun and said it helped calm the sting and redness.
