My Holistic Self Care and Skincare Schedule

(And a peek inside my beauty bag)

@kiriyanchenko7 My version of the untouched face trend - ‘Makeup free face’. I turn 43 this year. Filter free, wore hat & carried an umbrella + used sunscreen from age 16, vbeam for subtype 1 rosacea. Plus good quality Topical Probiotic Skincare @Amperna® Skincare of course. #rawface #makeupfree #filterfree #rawskin #skincarecommunity #40something #skincarefor40s #probioticskincare ♬ back to the basics - 𓊆ྀིྀིྀིྀིྀི❤︎𓊇ྀིྀིྀིྀིྀི

My 30-year-old self would never have thought I would post a make-up free and filter free video on social media. But here I am. As a 43-year-old skin confident woman with a mission to help as many people feel beautiful in their own skin as possible.

It has never come easy to me, though, being openly vulnerable and happy in my skin. I have always suffered from skin concerns. Like many others, as a teen I had acne.

Later on in my adult life after coming off prescribed medication I suffered from severe pustular acne followed by perioral dermatitis.

So, I know first hand how your skin can affect your mental health.

AMPERNA®'s philosophy to healthy skin is a holistic approach. Using topical probiotic-based skincare on the outside, whilst looking after your inside holistically with diet and lifestyle.

I live and breathe these ethos and wanted to share everything I do each week as part of my self-care skincare schedule.

*Note: this is what works for me, everyone’s journey will be different and I am available for holistic skin coaching to tailor your individual needs via the website.

What a typical day looks like

5:15am

My alarm goes off to feed Possum (our cat) and to get my early morning walk in. This is my favourite way to start the day. I walk for about 1 hour and 15 minutes listening to music and enjoying being out in nature.

6:30am

I shower using the AMPERNA® Body Care Duo and pull my outfit for the day. I usually sort my outfit in my mind the night before, depending on what I have on the next day.

As I am on socials talking, responding to Kiri's questions, hosting lives or have business meetings booked I need to dress accordingly to suit what is happening.

6:45am

Breakfast time. I usually have wholemeal oats or overnight chia pudding in either a matcha or acai flavour. Toppings is always fruits and nuts. I take a probiotic and digestive enzyme with a big glass of water.

During breakfast I check my emails and socials.

7am

I do my AMPERNA® skincare regime.

Using cool water I cleanse my face using the Cleanser on our Cleansing pads. I gently pat my face dry using a clean soft face cloth but while my face is still slightly damp I use the SOS Daily Facial Spray which is super cooling on the skin. Once that sets in I use our Vitamin C serum, followed by the Lightweight Soothing Emulsion and finishing with our Mineral CC SPF 15.

It is really important to leave enough time in between  layering each product to ensure it absorbs into the skin.

*SECRET ANNOUNCEMENT: I am currently in the research and development stages of creating an SPF 50 for the AMPERNA® range so I have been trialling samples of this. Watch this exciting space!

In terms of makeup, I prefer to let my skin breathe as much as possible, but I do like to use a little bit of product.

I use concealer under my eyes, an eyebrow powder, mascara, some highlighter and lip balm. I finish off by combing my hair.

8am

Arrive at the AMPERNA® office and my ritual is to have a matcha tea and a big glass of water.

Each day is different, but I am usually either creating content with the social media team, responding to emails or DM’s, hosting lives with people suffering from skin concerns, catching up with our marketing agency or in other business meetings.

12pm

I eat an anti-inflammatory diet and my lunch options are generally either a bowl of dark leafy greens with salmon and avocado or a smoothie made with a variety of fruits and vegetables blended with oat milk with seeded crackers, smoked salmon, and gluten free dip.

I love some dark chocolate as an indulgent snack.

1pm

I usually have holistic skin coaching calls booked in for the afternoons as well as more emails, shooting content and creating care packages to send out to AMPERNA® advocates and people in need.

5pm

Wrapping up for the day, I usually take R and D samples home and head to the gym with Wesley (my husband and business partner). I like to do cardio and light weights a few times a week.

6:30pm

I cleanse my face with cool water and get straight in the shower after the gym.
Dinner is usually a salad base with wild brown rice and teriyaki chicken, salmon, or roasted vegetables.

I also love to eat Tamago Kake Gohan which is a traditional Japanese rice and egg dish – yum!

I always drink a green tea and a big glass of water with dinner, followed by taking my digestive enzymes, zinc and omega 3s.

During dinner I will check socials, emails and our calendar to prepare for the next day – no rest for the wicked when you run your own business. But I am so grateful for the work I do to help people on their skin journeys.

7pm

I play with possum or pull out my tufting kit to try help decompress and regulate my mind from a busy day and prepare myself for a restful sleep.

My PM skincare regime looks like this:

Using cool water I use our Cleanser on our Cleansing pads and gently cleanse my skin.

While my skin is still slightly damp I use the SOS Daily Facial Spray and let it sink in.

Next come the serums, I religiously use our DS Soothing serum, followed by our new Brightening serum which gives my skin this insane juicy glow! Once the serums have both dried into the skin I’ll seal them in using our Lightweight Emulsion.

9pm

Hopping into bed I will either have a herbal sleep tea or do some journalling to help ease into slumber.

Exercise

I walk every morning; I do Pilates twice a week and go to the gym a few times a week.

I really feel the benefits for my mental health when I move my body consistently.

Mental Health

Apart from exercise I schedule in monthly counselling sessions to help with the stresses of running a business.

I also book in a float tank once or twice a month which allows me to relax and zone out.

Acupuncture is another treatment I get done once a month to help with stress relief and muscle tensions.

Other treatments

I was diagnosed with Sub Type 1 Rosacea and I have found VBeam treatment every six weeks really helps at keeping my facial redness at bay.

VBeam is regarded as the gold standard treatment for vascular skin conditions including rosacea, red cheeks, broken capillaries, facial flushing, vascular birthmarks as well as scars and stretch marks.
