Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Alpha Arbutin… Do You Really Need Them in Separate Serums?

Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Alpha Arbutin… Do You Really Need Them in Separate Serums?

Five brightening ingredients. One considered formula.

Vitamin C.

Niacinamide.

Alpha Arbutin.

Oxyresveratrol.

Lactic Acid.

If you wanted to add all five ingredients to your skincare routine, you could easily find yourself standing in front of the bathroom mirror with a collection of different serums, trying to remember which one goes first.

But do you actually need five separate serums?

We don't think so.

At AMPERNA®, we're big believers in keeping skincare considered. Instead of asking how many different ingredients we can convince you to add to your routine, we'd rather formulate complementary ingredients together when it makes sense.

That's exactly what we've done with Pro+ Advanced Brightening Serum [SUPAGLOW].

It combines Alpha Arbutin, Niacinamide, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid (a Vitamin C derivative), Oxyresveratrol and Lactic Acid in one advanced brightening formula designed to help improve the appearance of dullness and uneven skin tone while supporting smoother, more radiant-looking skin.

Ingredient stacking. We did it for you.

Why Are We Using So Many Serums?

Ingredient-led skincare has taught us a lot.

Most skincare users now recognise names like Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Alpha Arbutin, Hyaluronic Acid, Retinol and Glycolic Acid.

But somewhere along the way, we started treating every interesting skincare ingredient as though it needed its own bottle.

Want brighter-looking skin? Buy a Vitamin C serum.

Uneven-looking tone? Add Alpha Arbutin.

Want Niacinamide? There's another serum.

Want to exfoliate? Add an acid.

Before you know it, your simple skincare routine has become six or seven steps long.

And then come the questions.

Can I use Vitamin C with Niacinamide?

Can I use Alpha Arbutin with Vitamin C?

Which serum should I apply first?

Can I layer all of them together?

Am I using too many active ingredients?

There's another way to think about it.

An ingredient isn't a formula.

How ingredients are selected, combined and formulated matters.

Sometimes, rather than buying another standalone serum, it makes more sense to choose one carefully developed formula containing several complementary ingredients.

Can You Use Vitamin C, Niacinamide and Alpha Arbutin Together?

Yes.

Vitamin C, Niacinamide and Alpha Arbutin can be incorporated into the same skincare routine, and they can also be professionally formulated together within a single product.

This is exactly what we've done with the [SUPAGLOW] Brightening Serum.

The formula contains Alpha Arbutin and Niacinamide alongside 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, a stabilised Vitamin C derivative.

We've then gone further, adding Oxyresveratrol and Lactic Acid to create a more comprehensive approach to brighter, smoother and more even-looking skin.

Rather than purchasing several standalone serums and working out how to layer them yourself, [SUPAGLOW] puts the combination into one step.

Do You Need Separate Vitamin C, Niacinamide and Alpha Arbutin Serums?

Not necessarily.

There are plenty of good standalone skincare ingredients available, and there may be situations where you specifically want to incorporate one into your routine.

But using three separate serums doesn't automatically make your skincare routine three times better.

It creates three separate steps.

That's an important distinction.

With a multi-ingredient serum, the ingredients have already been brought together as part of the formulation.

For [SUPAGLOW], we wanted to create a product that could deliver a multi-ingredient brightening approach without requiring a multi-serum routine.

Meet the SUPAGLOW Five

So, what's actually inside the formula?

1. Alpha Arbutin

Alpha Arbutin is a popular ingredient in skincare formulated for the appearance of uneven skin tone, dark spots and dullness.

It's commonly found in dedicated brightening serums, but in [SUPAGLOW], we've incorporated Alpha Arbutin alongside several complementary ingredients.

That means it doesn't have to be another separate step.

If uneven-looking tone is something you're trying to understand, our guide to hyperpigmentation dos and don'ts explains why your overall skincare routine matters just as much as choosing an individual brightening ingredient.

2. Vitamin C

Yes, [SUPAGLOW] contains Vitamin C.

More specifically, it contains 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, a stabilised Vitamin C derivative.

Vitamin C is widely used in skincare for its antioxidant properties and is a popular ingredient in products designed to support a brighter, more radiant-looking complexion.

But Vitamin C doesn't have to be the only brightening ingredient in a formula.

In [SUPAGLOW], it works as part of a wider ingredient combination rather than being the entire story.

AMPERNA® also has a dedicated Vitamin C serum, Pro+ Vitamin C Hyaluronic Serum [REPAIR], for customers looking for a different approach to incorporating Vitamin C into their routine.

3. Niacinamide

Niacinamide, also known as Vitamin B3, is one of those ingredients that seems to appear everywhere in skincare.

And for good reason.

It's a versatile ingredient that works particularly well within AMPERNA®'s broader barrier-first approach to skincare.

In [SUPAGLOW], Niacinamide forms part of the complete formula rather than requiring another standalone Niacinamide serum.

And despite an old skincare myth that continues to circulate online, Vitamin C and Niacinamide do not automatically need to be kept apart.

They can be used within the same routine and can be professionally formulated together.

4. Oxyresveratrol

Oxyresveratrol might not have the same name recognition as Vitamin C or Niacinamide, but it's an important part of what makes [SUPAGLOW] different.

It is a plant-derived brightening ingredient incorporated into the formula to help support the appearance of a more even-looking complexion.

This is also a good example of why we don't formulate products based purely on whichever ingredient happens to be trending on social media.

An ingredient doesn't need to be famous to deserve a place in a formula.

It needs a reason to be there.

5. Lactic Acid

Lactic Acid is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA).

It exfoliates the surface of the skin, helping support smoother and more refined-looking texture.

And that's relevant to brightening because radiance isn't only about uneven-looking tone.

Skin texture contributes to how luminous your complexion appears too.

If you're already using exfoliating acids, retinoids or other active skincare, our guide to using active skincare without compromising your skin barrier explains why adding more isn't always the answer.

Five Ingredients. One Brightening Serum.

This is where we think skincare can become unnecessarily complicated.

You could buy:

An Alpha Arbutin serum.

A Vitamin C serum.

A Niacinamide serum.

An exfoliating acid.

Another antioxidant serum.

But five bottles don't automatically create a better routine.

Sometimes they just create more steps.

[SUPAGLOW] brings together:

Alpha Arbutin + Vitamin C + Niacinamide + Oxyresveratrol + Lactic Acid.

Five brightening ingredients. One considered formula.

That's the idea.

Is More Skincare Actually Better?

Not necessarily.

At AMPERNA®, we believe a skincare routine should make sense for your skin.

Start with the foundations. Build when your skin is ready.

Constantly adding new serums and actives can make your routine increasingly complicated and can make it harder to identify what your skin actually likes.

This is particularly relevant if your skin is delicate or easily triggered.

The same principle applies when introducing retinoids. If you're considering adding one, understanding the difference between Bakuchiol and Retinol can help you choose an approach that makes sense for your skin rather than simply adding another trending active.

What Makes [SUPAGLOW] Different From a Standard Vitamin C Serum?

Vitamin C is only one part of the SUPAGLOW story.

The formula combines:

Alpha Arbutin to support the appearance of more even-looking skin tone.

3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid as our Vitamin C derivative.

Niacinamide as a versatile skin-supporting ingredient.

Oxyresveratrol as a plant-derived brightening ingredient.

Lactic Acid to support smoother, more radiant-looking skin.

Plus AMPERNA®'s postbiotic complex and carefully selected botanical ingredients.

That's why we don't think of [SUPAGLOW] as simply another Vitamin C serum.

It's a multi-ingredient brightening formula.

How Many Serums Should You Use in a Skincare Routine?

There isn't a magic number.

You don't need to use three serums because someone on TikTok uses three serums.

And you don't need a separate bottle for every ingredient you've read about.

Instead, consider what you actually want from your routine.

If several ingredients you want are already present within one professionally formulated product, you may not need to purchase them individually.

For us, good skincare isn't about building the biggest routine.

It's about building one you can actually stick to.

How Do You Use [SUPAGLOW]?

[SUPAGLOW] is a leave-on serum designed for evening use.

Apply 1 to 2 pumps to a clean face, neck and décolletage after cleansing and before moisturising.

If you're new to [SUPAGLOW], introduce it gradually. We recommend beginning around 2 to 3 times per week and increasing frequency according to how your skin responds.

And because [SUPAGLOW] is an active skincare product, remember to use appropriate sun protection as part of your daytime routine.

Can You Use [SUPAGLOW] With Other Active Skincare?

You can build other active products into your wider routine, but that doesn't mean everything needs to be used at the same time.

This is particularly important with exfoliating acids and retinoids.

Give your skin time to adjust when introducing something new and pay attention to how your skin responds.

Consistency matters more than intensity.

If you're building a more advanced AMPERNA® routine, our guide to using active skincare while supporting your skin barrier goes into more detail about how to introduce targeted products gradually.

Who Is [SUPAGLOW] For?

[SUPAGLOW] may be worth considering if you're looking to improve the appearance of:

Dullness

Uneven-looking skin tone

Lack of radiance

Uneven-looking texture

or if you're simply looking for a more advanced brightening step without creating a collection of individual ingredient serums.

The formula has been tested across a wide range of skin types, including delicate and easily triggered skin, but like any active product, we recommend introducing it gradually.

[SUPAGLOW] is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Your Brightening Routine Doesn't Need Five Bottles

Skincare has become very good at convincing us that every interesting ingredient deserves another bottle.

We see it differently.

Sometimes the smarter formulation is the one that allows you to use less.

[SUPAGLOW] combines Alpha Arbutin, Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Oxyresveratrol and Lactic Acid in one advanced brightening serum designed to support smoother, brighter and more even-looking skin.

No complicated layering.

No five-serum routine.

No bathroom chemistry required.

Five bright ideas. One serum.

Ingredient stacking. We did it for you.
